On June 28, the first generating units of the Baihetan Hydropower Station which is located on the Jinsha River officially began power generation. Upon completion, Baihetan will become the world's second-largest hydropower station, second only to the Three Gorges Dam project, which represents a significant monument in the history of hydropower construction.
